The fascinating story of a mission field on our doorstep... 

The First World War - still called the Great War in Belgium - left deep and lasting traces in Belgium. But out of hopelessness and in the midst of material and spiritual devastation, a remarkable missionary movement was born, which to this day remains a beacon of hope! 

 

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Belgian Evangelical Mission, the desire arose to publish a commemorative book. Henk van Dorp delved into the history and archives of the Mission and collected a large number of inspiring stories in the book UW WOORD IS DE WAARHEID (TA PAROLE EST LA VÉRITÉ).

 

The book chronologically tells the story of 100 years of evangelism and church planting by the BEM, an organisation founded by the American couple Ralph and Edith Norton. All major phases in the history of the Mission are covered. A large number of personal stories are told. The anniversary book not only makes a special contribution to the history of missions in Belgium, but also shows the greatness of God and what He can do in and through vulnerable people.
